Steven Zhang is leaving Western as the most decorated male fencer in 30 years, since Paul Simms was awarded a purple blanket in 1995. Steven has been awarded the King's Cup M.V.P. every year prior to this year. 

For the QUA Championships, Steven competes in men's foil. He has won 3 consecutive All-Star Athlete awards, 2 Individual Silvers (2022, 2023); 1 Team-Relay Silver, 1 Individual Bronze (2024), 1 Team-Relay Bronze, and 3 Overall Men's Team Championship Bronze Medals (2022,-2025).

In provincial events for national points, Steven won Bronze at Winterfest Open (2024), 3 Bronze at the Brock Open (2022-2024), and Team-Relay Silver at RMC (2023). In the Canadian National Championships, Steven placed 12th in 2022.

Steven has been the captain of the Men's Foil team in all his four years on the team. He is respected as a team leader who is knowledgeable, talented, motivational, and understanding.

Steven is also a fencing coach in his own right. He was there with the Women's Foil team coaching and supporting them to Team-Relay Gold and the Banner win at the 2024 QUA Championships. As well, winning individual Gold and Bronze, Team-Relay Bronze, and Overall Bronze at the QUA Championships this year.
