Mustangs earn road split in Waterloo

Oct. 3: Western 3 Laurier 0 / Oct. 4: Waterloo 1 Western 0

Erin Grand (Toronto, Ont.) scored a pair of goals for the second straight game to lead the Western Mustangs to a 3-0 win over the Laurier Golden Hawks on Saturday afternoon at Alumni Field.

Grand's goals came after teammate Chantal Blais (Toronto, Ont.) netted what turned out to be the game-winner at the 27th minute of the first half. The game came to an early end at the 35th minute of the second half due to lightning.

Goalkeeper Marissa Chinn made eight saves to record the shutout.

Sunday proved to be less enjoyable for the Mustangs, as the squad dropped a 1-0 contest to the Waterloo Warriors, who won for the first time this season.

Tara Chadwick scored the lone goal in the game to give Waterloo the victory.

The Mustangs are now  4-4-0, putting them in fourth place in the OUA West. The team will play next on Wednesday, Oct. 7 at 6:00 pm against the Windsor Lancers at TD Waterhouse Stadium.
