ST. CATHARINES, Ont. – The Mustangs moved from one blowout win to another, topping their 48-point defeat of Waterloo with a 64-7 victory over the Brock Badgers on Saturday afternoon at Alumni Field.
Leading the charge was
Paige Farries with four tries, while
Lexi Smith landed six converts. Also recording tries were
Aisha Husseini,
Jessie Strong,
Hannah Ward,
Nikki Case, and
Georgia McLay. On the other half of the scoresheet, Krystal Lyttleton led the Badgers with a try while Meagan Hart added a convert.
The Mustangs opened up the first half with the same intensity that allowed them to shut out Waterloo last week, and had Brock topped 29-0 after the first 45.
Coming back from the break, Western continued to press into the Badger end to record an additional 33 points before the end of the game. However, the Mustangs weren't able to keep Brock out of the purple and white in-goal area entirely, as Lyttleton slipped through to record the first try of the season for the Badgers.
The Mustangs are back in action and on home turf just in time for Reunion Weekend, as they host the Laurier Golden Hawks at Alumni Field on October 1. Game time is set for 11 a.m.
