Mustangs Recap - Mar. 2nd to Mar. 5th

London, ON - There were some Mustangs in action this past week, with recaps and results below. 
 

RINGETTE

The Mustangs took part in the Provincial AA Championship this past weekend, winning the championship and becoming back-to-back provincial champions. 

On Thursday, Day 1, the purple and white got off to a hot start as they beat Carleton 10-3. Friday saw the team take home two more wins, 7-0 and 5-1, against McMaster and Brock respectively. 

On Saturday, the 'Stangs beat Nipissing 9-2 before falling to Guelph 6-3. In the semi-finals on Sunday, Western topped Ottawa 8-3 to book their ticket to the Gold Medal Game later on. 

The Mustangs took home a 5-3 win over Brock to secure the championship, with Ainsleigh Wedow scoring 2 goals and 2 assists, including the game winner. Laura Soper and Sydney Dagenais each had a goal and an assist for Western as well.

MEN'S SQUASH

The Mustangs competed in the U.S Intercollegiate Doubles Championships this past weekend, taking home 1st place and becoming NCAA Div 1 Doubles Champions. 

Dylan Deverill and Griffin Manely first beat Fordham and then the University of Rochester on their way to the quarter finals. In the quarters, the 'Stangs topped Brown, booking a ticket to the semi's. 

A win against a side from Naval Academy in the semi's set up a date in the finals for Western against another Naval Academy side, with the Mustangs ultimately proving victorious and becoming champions.

TABLE TENNIS

Western competed at the Great Lakes Regional over the weekend, where they won the Women's Team Championship and Coed Teams Championship. The purple and white now qualify for the 2023 College Table Tennis National Championships in Round Rock, Texas on April 14-16.
