St. Catharines, ON - The Mustangs wrestling teams finished third in the combined team standings at the Brock Open on Saturday.
The team's strong performance was highlighted by gold medals from Treye Trotman, Jonelle Clarke, and Isata Mansaray.
Men's Team
Treye Trotman (57kg) continued his dominant season, securing his fourth gold medal in as many tournaments. Trotman went undefeated on the day with a 3-0 record, amassing an impressive 35 points while only conceding 2. This win extends Trotman's undefeated streak in University competition, which now spans three seasons at Western.
At the same weight class, Leo Kitambala claimed a silver medal, making it a strong showing for the Mustangs in the 57kg category.
Two other Mustangs also earned medals on the men's side: Lukas Geske took bronze at 82kg, while Mark Summers secured a bronze at 125kg.
Women's Team
The women's team was led by gold medalists Jonelle Clarke (65kg) and Isata Mansaray (72kg). Clarke showcased her skills with two pins on her way to gold, while Mansaray dominated her opponents, winning four matches—two by pin, and the others by scores of 10-0 and 9-0. First-year wrestler Chanelle Medina also delivered a notable performance, earning a bronze medal at 56kg.
